More from NewLife Kids

Pre-Service we also talked about bullying. Go over this with your kids and use these scriptures to read about what God says.

Bullying can mean different things. These are some ways children and young people have desribed bullying:
• Being called names
• Being teased
• Being pushed or pulled about
• Being hit or attacked
• Having your bag and other possessions taken and thrown about
• Having rumors spread about you
• Being left out or ignored
• Being forced to hand over money or possessions
• Being attacked because of your religion or colour

Sometimes these things happen to you and sometimes you may be the one involoved in bullying someone. Bullying hurts!! It causes you to feel scared and upset. Sometimes it causes us to not want to be involved anywhere near the bullys. Make sure that we NEVER use bullying as a way to get what we want.

Why do they bully people:
• Maybe they get bullied themselves and are only acting out what they see done to them
• Maybe they are scared of getting picked on themselves so they do it first
• Maybe they want to show off and seem tough
• Maybe they don’t like themselves and so they take it out on others
• Maybe the adults in their lives are bullying them

Steps to take if you or someone around you is being bullied:
• TELL, TELL, TELL
• Practice being a friend to others
• Keep a note or diary of what is happening
• Don’t give up telling others about it
• Ask your parents, your teacher, or your leaders at church to help you
• Talk over with your friends how you can make a differnece

Scriptures to read:

2 Timothy 1:7

7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Psalm 34:9-19

12 Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous?13 Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies!14 Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.15 The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.16 But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth.17 The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.19 The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.

Ephesians 4:29

29 No rotten word must proceedt from your mouth, but only something good for the building up of the need, in order that it may give grace to those who hear,

Deuteronomy 31:6

6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Psalm 121:2

2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Remember:
You can make a differnece. Don’t ignore bullying. Don’t laugh at or encourage the bully or what he is doing.

Remember that God wants us to love everyone even the bully. Pray for the bully to see that what he is doing is wrong. Ask Mom and Dad to pray with you and also ask your church friends to pray with you for this person.

Together we can make a difference.
