This Week In NewLife Kids

Port of Call – Elementary

Main Point:  I Will Use My Time Wisely To Do What
Is Right!

Bible Verse: “So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.” Ephesians 5:15-16 (NLT)

Bible Lesson:  Paul preaches while under house arrest - Acts 28:17-31

Family Activity:  Time Eater
Make a time journal for each family member for the first two days of the week. Take note of the one leisure activity that each person spends the most time doing. (Homework doesn’t count.) This activity is that person’s Time Eater. It might be video games for one person, reading for another, and TV for some one else. The remaining days of the week, have the entire family cut their Time Eater activities by 25-50 %. For example, if Dad’s Time Eater is two hours of sports programs each night, have him cut that amount to one hour. If a child’s Time Eater is playing one hour of video games every night, cut it to one-half hour. Agree as a family that you will replace the time spent on your Time Eater with reading the Bible, praying, watching Elevate At Home videos, memorizing Bible Verses, doing nice things for friends or family members, or inviting friends to church. When you replace Time Eaters with these things, you are using your time more wisely.

Port of Call – Pre-K and Toddlers

Main Point:  I Will Thank God For Everything

Bible Verse “You must be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God, following his instructions in every detail.”  Deuteronomy 5:32b (NLT)

Bible Story:
Noah thanked God by worshiping and giving sacrifices to God. - Genesis 8:18-9:17

We need to thank God for everything we have.
1. Ask your family to think of some things they have (shoes, clothes, a bed, a place to live, friends, food) and write each of those things on a piece of paper and put them in a bowl.
2. At each meal, pull one of those papers out of the bowl. Take time to thank God for that thing you have.
Remember to be like Noah and thank God for all the things you have.
