This Week in NewLife Kids

Port of Call – Elementary

Main Point:  I Will Show Kindness To Everyone!

Bible Verse: We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.” 2 Corinthians 6:6 (NLT)

Bible Lesson:  Paul shipwrecked on Malta - Acts 27-28

Family Activity:  Loving Kindness
Write some kind actions on small pieces of paper and put them in a container. Draw a heart on paper and tape it to the outside of the container. Some suggested actions are: get someone a drink of water, put away someone’s clothes, help carry something heavy, compliment someone’s hair, compliment someone’s clothes, share a treat with someone.
Have the family play a game of charades with these actions as the clues. One person draws the clue and acts it out. When the rest of the family guesses the action, a new person gets to draw a clue.
Point out to your family that the kind actions in the game came from the container with the heart on it. Kind actions show love to others. Tell your family that in life, our kind actions can show God’s love to people. That is why it is so important that we treat people with kindness. Kindness shows people God’s love and opens a door for us to share with them about God and invite them to church.

Port of Call – Pre-K and Toddlers

Main Point:  I Will Obey Right Away

Bible Verse: “You must be careful to obey all the commands of the Lord your God, following his instructions in every detail.”  Deuteronomy 5:32b (NLT)

Bible Story: Noah leaves the ark. - Genesis 8:13-18

Play a game with your children to help them see the benefits of obeying right away.
1. Play a game of Simon Says. Instead of saying “Simon,” you can say, “Mommy” or “Daddy”.
2. Prior to playing, explain that the first person to obey what Mommy or Daddy says will get a check mark next to their name on a piece of paper. When a player gets ten check marks, you can give them a ticket that can be redeemed for rewards after the game. You can give the children extra reading time or game time for obeying right away. You could also give them an extra treat after dinner that night for obeying right away.
3. Pray together, thanking God for reminding your family that it’s always good to obey right away and ask Him to help you remember to obey right away every time.
You can pull out this game again anytime your children need a reminder of the benefits of quick obedience.

See you next Sunday!
