This Week in NewLife Kids

Power UP – Elementary

Main Point: I Will Be Prayerful!
Bible Verse: “The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer.” Psalm 6:9 (NLT)
Bible Story: Hannah and Samuel. (1 Samuel 1)

Activity: Have the family sit in a line. Have each person whisper the Main Point into the next person’s ear, until it reaches the last person. When it reaches the last person, have him or her yell the Main Point and run to the beginning of the line. Continue doing this until each person has yelled the Main Point.

Stay focused: Pray Without Stopping
This week give each family member an index card and write down two or three prayer requests on each card. Take a large piece of paper or a poster board and glue the index cards onto it. Have each family member share his or her prayer requests as you glue on the cards. After all the cards are on the paper, make a circle and take turns praying for each of the prayer requests. Put the poster up somewhere in your house to remind each person to continue to pray for the requests without stopping. As each prayer is answered, circle the request on the paper. Hannah prayed without stopping for God to give her a son. Just like Hannah, God wants us to pray without stopping too.

Power UP Jr. – Pre-K and Toddlers

Main Point: I Will Work Hard!
Bible Story: Sending out the disciples (Luke 10:1-20)
Bible Verse: “Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so all will go well with you.” Deuteronomy 6:18a (NLT)

Family Activity: Hard Yard Work
Your children learned about working hard today. The disciples went out and worked hard teaching and healing others. We need to work hard at everything we do, too.

Take some time to go work in the yard together as a family. Give everyone a different job to be responsible for finishing. One person may be in charge of pulling the weeds or raking up the leaves. Take a timer outside with you or keep track of the time on a watch. Elect one leader to yell, “What will we do?” every 15 minutes. Then, have everyone yell back “We Will Work Hard!”

After the yard word is finished, take a few minutes and compliment each person on how hard he or she worked that day. The disciples worked hard, and we need to be like them and work hard, too.

See you Next Sunday!!
