Parents, have you ever woke up in the morning and wondered how you would make it through the day. Raising kids and having an impact on their lives that will last for all eternity. That can be an overwhelming burden with the incorrect perspective. Incorrect perspective says that I must do this by myself out of my own power with my own ideas. So what is the proper perspective?
I love the way that Proverbs 3:5-7 in The Message says it…
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!”
But what is evil? Evil is anything that goes against the will of God for our lives. The assumption that we know the answers we are looking for within our own knowledge is pride. God hates a proud heart. James 4:6 in The Message says “It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.”
This is my encouragement to you, the next time you feel like the weight of raising your children is squarely on your shoulders and you feel overwhelmed and inadequate, realize that by yourself, you ARE inadequate but God in His infinite wisdom trusted you to raise that child and therefore you have the ability through God’s strength and knowledge. If you are living for God and seeking His best for your life, you are not alone in raising your children. God loves you and your child and wants only the best for all His children.
If you don’t know the answer, take a breath and relax. You know and have a relationship with the one who has all the answers, God. Sometimes it is not easy – but God’s word says “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” in Philippians 4:13 NLT
