Main Point: I Will Be Humble!
Give each family member a bowl of dry alphabet noodles or cereal. Work together and find all the letters in order to spell out the words “I Will Be Humble!”
Bible Verse: “But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Matthew 23:12 (NLT)
Bible Story: King Uzziah enters the Temple. (2 Chronicles 26)
Family Activity: Humble Cookies
King Uzziah was very proud of himself and his abilities and he thought he didn’t have to obey God’s rules. He thought too much of himself and his abilities. God wants us to be humble and realize our abilities come from Him and we should use them to help others. Bake cookies together as a family. On the bottom side of each cookie, use icing to write one ability or strength you can think of that God has given you. Then, squish the icing side of two cookies together to make a Humble Cookie Sandwich. Place each family member’s cookies into a separate plastic sandwich bag. We could have written our abilities on the top of the cookies to brag about them, but God does not want us to brag about our abilities. Instead, we should use our abilities to worship Him and bless others. These cookies will be twice as delicious because they are stuck together with the icing we used on the bottom of the cookies. Have each family member share his or her cookies with another family member or a friend by giving his or her bag of cookies away.

Bible Story: Mary’s gift to Jesus(John 12:1-8)
Bible Verse: “Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so all will go well with you.” Deuteronomy 6:18a (NLT)
Family Activity Gifts To Give
Mary gave Jesus a very special gift. God wants us to give to others, too. This week, work together as a family and make a list of some items you have that others might need. Walk through the house with your children and help him or her point out different items to put on the list. Decide on one of those things to give to someone else who needs it and give it to him or her.
Encourage your children to give to others just as Mary gave her own special gift to Jesus. God wants us to share and give to others with a happy heart.

Power UP - Elementary
Main Point: I Will Choose To Repent!
Draw a cross on a large sheet of paper. Taking turns, have each family member write the Main Point around the outline of the cross. Continue doing this until the entire cross is outlined completely.
Bible Verse: “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.” Luke 24:47b (NLT)
Bible Story: Repentance and Salvation. (Luke 23:32 - 24:49)
Family Activity: Throw It Away
Sit in a circle with several pieces of paper for each family member. On each piece of paper, write down some things that are sins. Use ones from this list that are appropriate for your children’s age: lying, stealing, disobeying parents, disobeying teachers, not sharing, making things more important than God, saying mean things, hitting others. Crumple up each piece of paper to make a paper ball. Place a bucket or trash bin in the middle of the room and spread out. Take turns trying to throw the paper balls into the bucket or trash bin. Continue doing this until all of the sins are thrown away. God wants us to trust in Him and ask Him to forgive us for our sins. He sent Jesus to die on the cross to save us from each of these sins. When we ask God to forgive us, He takes our sins and throws them away. Pray together as a family asking God to forgive your sins and thanking God that Jesus came to throw our sins away.

Main Point: I Will Be Kind To Others!
Bible Story: Jesus welcomes the children(Mark 10:13-16)
Bible Verse: “Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so all will go well with you.” Deuteronomy 6:18a (NLT)
Family Activity Reward Kind Acts
When parents brought their children to see Jesus, the disciples tried to send them away. Jesus was kind when the parents brought their children to see him, though, and welcomed them. He wants each of us to be kind also.
This week be on the lookout for family members who show kindness. Keep a tally on the fridge showing how many times each member of the family is kind. Give the person with the most tally marks at the end of the week a prize of some kind. You might give that person an extra story at bedtime or the opportunity to pick a game to play with mom and dad. Make sure to stress that he or she is being given the prize because he or she showed the most kindness throughout the week.
Just like Jesus was kind to the children, we need to
be kind to others, too.

Power UP – Elementary
Main Point: I Will Be Prayerful!
Bible Verse: “The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer.” Psalm 6:9 (NLT)
Bible Story: Hannah and Samuel. (1 Samuel 1)
Activity: Have the family sit in a line. Have each person whisper the Main Point into the next person’s ear, until it reaches the last person. When it reaches the last person, have him or her yell the Main Point and run to the beginning of the line. Continue doing this until each person has yelled the Main Point.
Stay focused: Pray Without Stopping
This week give each family member an index card and write down two or three prayer requests on each card. Take a large piece of paper or a poster board and glue the index cards onto it. Have each family member share his or her prayer requests as you glue on the cards. After all the cards are on the paper, make a circle and take turns praying for each of the prayer requests. Put the poster up somewhere in your house to remind each person to continue to pray for the requests without stopping. As each prayer is answered, circle the request on the paper. Hannah prayed without stopping for God to give her a son. Just like Hannah, God wants us to pray without stopping too.

Main Point: I Will Work Hard!
Bible Story: Sending out the disciples (Luke 10:1-20)
Bible Verse: “Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so all will go well with you.” Deuteronomy 6:18a (NLT)
Family Activity: Hard Yard Work
Your children learned about working hard today. The disciples went out and worked hard teaching and healing others. We need to work hard at everything we do, too.
Take some time to go work in the yard together as a family. Give everyone a different job to be responsible for finishing. One person may be in charge of pulling the weeds or raking up the leaves. Take a timer outside with you or keep track of the time on a watch. Elect one leader to yell, “What will we do?” every 15 minutes. Then, have everyone yell back “We Will Work Hard!”
After the yard word is finished, take a few minutes and compliment each person on how hard he or she worked that day. The disciples worked hard, and we need to be like them and work hard, too.

Parent Tip
Parents, have you ever woke up in the morning and wondered how you would make it through the day. Raising kids and having an impact on their lives that will last for all eternity. That can be an overwhelming burden with the incorrect perspective. Incorrect perspective says that I must do this by myself out of my own power with my own ideas. So what is the proper perspective?
I love the way that Proverbs 3:5-7 in The Message says it…
“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil!”
But what is evil? Evil is anything that goes against the will of God for our lives. The assumption that we know the answers we are looking for within our own knowledge is pride. God hates a proud heart. James 4:6 in The Message says “It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.”
This is my encouragement to you, the next time you feel like the weight of raising your children is squarely on your shoulders and you feel overwhelmed and inadequate, realize that by yourself, you ARE inadequate but God in His infinite wisdom trusted you to raise that child and therefore you have the ability through God’s strength and knowledge. If you are living for God and seeking His best for your life, you are not alone in raising your children. God loves you and your child and wants only the best for all His children.
If you don’t know the answer, take a breath and relax. You know and have a relationship with the one who has all the answers, God. Sometimes it is not easy – but God’s word says “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” in Philippians 4:13 NLT

Main Point: I Will Focus On God And Do What He Wants Me To Do!
Bible Verse: “So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.” 1 Peter 1:14 NLT
Bible Story: Instances from David’s life. (1 Samuel 17, 1 Samuel 26, 2 Samuel 6:14-23)
Family Activity:
Draw a target on a large piece of paper. Have each member of the family take turns writing the Main Point in the target until the entire target is filled up.
Stay Focused:
Go outside in your backyard. Take a paper target and three small balls with you. Start with the target far away and tell each person to focus on the center of the target. Then, give him or her three turns to throw the balls trying to hit as close to the center as possible. While the person is throwing, the other family members run back and forth between the target and the thrower as distractions. Once everyone has taken a turn, move the target closer and start over. As the target gets closer, have fewer people run back and forth as distractions. Continue in this manner until the target is close to the thrower and there are no distractions. It is easier to focus on the target when it is close to us because there are fewer distractions between us and the target. David stayed focused on God even when there were a lot of distractions around him. Because he was focused on God, he was able to defeat Goliath and do many other great things. When we stay focused on God and what He wants us to do, we will be able to be obedient to God and do great things, too.

Your children learned that the disciples were called by Jesus and began to follow Him. While they followed Jesus, the disciples learned from Him. We need to learn from Jesus, too.
Have family members draw a large heart on a piece of paper together. Take turns drawing pictures of ways we can learn from Jesus. You might draw a picture of a Bible or of your family going to church. By each picture, write down one lesson you can or have learned when you did each thing.
When the heart is finished, explain that we should use what we learn from God to help us in our lives. Use the things you learn by doing what is right and continuing to grow more like Jesus! Place the heart somewhere in your house to remind your family to learn from Jesus just like the disciples did.
