Family Activites

Elementary - DOJO

Running The Race

Discipline is needed in order to mature in everything we do during our lives, including our Christian walk. You have to be willing to put in the work and training involved to become the best you can be. Tell your child of a time in your life when you had to be disciplined. Explain what happened because of your choice to have discipline. This week, as a family, choose one area to be disciplined in together. You could decide to do a nightly Bible reading together, or you might decide to serve others in need together. Go on a walk through your neighborhood and find someone to serve. Remind your child that God wants them to be disciplined by reading the Bible and serving others.

Lesson 1: I Will Wait!

Today, your child learned about waiting. They learned how important it is to have patience. This week, play a game called “Wait and Go” as a family. Have the family line up on one side of a room or on one side of your backyard. The Leader should stand in the middle of the area. When the leader says Go, everyone should start running to the opposite side. When the leader says Wait, the runners should stop and wait. The winner is the person who goes to the opposite side and back to the leader in the middle first! Encourage your child by talking about what it feels like to have to wait and how that helps us have patience.
