Elementary - The Great Race

Main Point: I Will Keep On Worshiping God Every Day!
Bible Verse: “I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever.” Psalm 145:2 (NLT)
Bible Story: The people celebrate and worship God. (Nehemiah 12:27-47)

Main Point Review Activity:
Give family members a piece of paper with the Main Point written on it. Have them each take some time (From five minutes to twenty, depending on the age of your children) to decorate the paper in a way that emphasizes how to worship God. Then, come back together and share them with each other.

Try This!
The Jewish people worshiped God because He had blessed them, and they had great joy. God has blessed us, too.
• We need to worship Him and praise Him every day.
• This week, gather as a family and make a list of the many ways God had blessed you.
• Then spend a little time worshipping as a family together.
• You could spend some time in prayer together thanking God for His blessings.
• You could put a worship CD in the stereo and sing along with it.
• However your family chooses to worship God together, make it a special time of remembering what God has done for you and your family.

Main Point: I Will Stay Calm When I Am Angry!
Bible Story: Nehemiah stays calm when he’s angry (Nehemiah 4)
Bible Verse: “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.” Galatians 6:9a (NLT)

Family Activity Keep Calm
One of the best ways you can help your child learn to stay calm when they are angry is to teach them how to stay calm.
Work together as a family to make a “How To Stay Calm” poster. Come up with four to five ways to stay calm and include those on the poster. (Examples: Take 3 deep breaths. Count to 10. Walk away. Sing a song.)
Find or draw a picture that reminds everyone of each of these ways to stay calm and put it on the poster. Place the poster in a prominent place in the house so you can point it out when you see someone getting angry.
Pray each day and ask God to help you stay calm when you get angry.
