Ten Hut - Elementary
Lesson Goal: The children will learn that even though we may not get the answer we want, we can be sure that God hears our prayers.
Main Point: God Hears My Prayers!
Bible Story: God hears and answers Joshua's prayer
(Joshua 10:1-15)
Memory Verse: Psalm 116:1
"I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy."(NLT)
The Gibeonites had tricked the Israelite leaders into making an oath that the Israelites would not harm them. Because the Israelites kept their treaty, the Gibeonites became the woodcutters and water carriers for the entire nation. The king of Jerusalem heard that the nation of Israel became allies with the Gibeonites and then planned an alliance with four other Amorite kings to destroy Gibeon. So Joshua and his entire army set out for Gibeon to destroy the Amorites. The Lord aided the Israelites with their victory over the Amorites by throwing the enemy into panic, sending a horrible hailstorm, and even allowing the sun and moon to stand still until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. (Read Joshua 9-10:15)
Application:
What did Joshua pray for? (Joshua 10:12)
Have you ever prayed for something that you felt like God would not answer?
Why is prayer important?
The Bible talks a lot about prayer. Prayer is so important because it is the basis of our relationship with God. Even Jesus prayed. Listening and talking to God is not only an act of obedience but also grows our relationship with Him. We can learn from Joshua that no prayer is too big for God. Take time to thank God for allowing us to have a relationship in which we can come to Him freely and know that He cares enough to listen to and answer our prayers.
Additional verses
John 15:7 “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”
Ephesians 6:18 “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”
James 5:16b “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

Main Point: I Will Share With Others!
Bible Story: David & Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 9:1-13)
Memory Verse: “And David became more and more powerful, because the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies was with him.”
2 Samuel 5:10
Sharing - one of the hardest lesson to teach and for your child to learn. We are made with automatic selfish tendencies so Sharing is a foreign concept. Read the bible stody with your child and talk about how David made a decision to share every thing he had with Mephibosheth. Take time this week to point out times when your child can share and be like David - who was a "man after God's own heart".
See you next Sunday!!
