This Week in NewLife Kids
Ten Hut - Elementary
Lesson Goal: The children will learn that God always keeps His promises to us. However, sometimes we will have to wait on God's timing for those promises to be fulfilled. In those times we should be patient and stay true to God.
Main Point: God Will Keep His Promises!
Bible Story: God keeps His promise to Caleb (Joshua 14:6-15))
Bible Verse: Psalm 56:10 "I praise God for what he has promised; Yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised." (NLT)
When Joshua was very old, he called together all the elders, leaders, judges, and officers of Israel to give a farewell address just as Moses had done. Joshua reminded the nation of their history and all that God had done and also encouraged them to remain faithful and loyal to God. (Read Joshua 23-24)
Application:
List four acts that God did for the nation of Israel. (Joshua 24: 2-13)
What important question did Joshua ask the nation and how did they respond? (Joshua 24:15)
Joshua’s question to the nation had a huge emphasis on choice. They could choose to follow the gods and idols of their neighboring nations, or they could choose to follow and serve the Lord, the one true God.
All are given the choice to follow God today. God continues to invite us to leave behind our sinful past and choose to follow Him. We can be assured that when we choose to follow God, our sins past, present, and future are forgiven and we have entered the new covenant through Jesus Christ. (Read Hebrews 10:1-18 and 2 Corinthians 3:13-18)
Additional verses to meditate on:
Romans 11:27 “And this is my covenant with them, that I will take away their sins.”
Mark 14:24 “And he said to them, “This is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice for many.”
Matthew 16:24 “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.”
John 8:12 “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
Ten Hut Jr. - Pre-K and Toddlers
Bible Story: David & the temple (1Chronicles 22:2-19)
Main Point: I will Be Patient!
Bible Verse: “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made… “ Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)
Today your children joined a boy named Mardy on his final training mission for the Help Corps. On the mission, Mardy went to Canyon Island to help a boy named Spike learn: I Will Be Patient. Spike wanted to open a treasure chest, but it was on the other side of a canyon and he wasn’t patient enough to wait for the drawbridge to cross. After Mardy taught him that God wants him to be patient even when it’s really hard, he finally waited for the bridge and got to the treasure chest…and it was full of candy!
Activity one: Playground Patience
Take your children to a playground sometime this week, and bring a stopwatch with you. Each time they’re about to do something like swing or slide, they will first have to wait patiently for thirty seconds until your stopwatch goes off. Remind them that even when it’s hard, God wants us to be patient.
Activity two: Cookie Watch
Bake some cookies with your children this week, and while they’re in the oven, encourage your children to patiently watch them bake. Talk to them about how even though it’s hard to be patient when we really want something, it’s the right thing to do, and sometimes we get a sweet reward like cookies.
Don't miss our Fall "Funday" Sunday next week.

Bible Story: God keeps His promise to Caleb (Joshua 14:6-15))
Bible Verse: Psalm 56:10 "I praise God for what he has promised; Yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised." (NLT)
God promised that He would give the nation of Israel victory over the lands they conquered if they obeyed His commands. God also promised Caleb that he and his descendants would possess their share of the Promised Land because Caleb had been loyal to God when scouting out the land. (Numbers 13:25-14:25)
Application:
How did God keep his promise toward Caleb? (Read Joshua 14:6-12)
What are some of God’s promises that He has kept even to this day?
God is perfect and cannot lie; He always does what He says. We can believe and trust in God’s promises of unfailing love, hope, peace, the Holy Spirit, forgiveness, grace, mercy, freedom and salvation through Jesus Christ. You may not experience all of God’s promises fulfilled on your time table, but God is faithful to His promises. We can learn from Caleb, Joshua, and many others from the Bible that God will keep His promises.
Additional verses to meditate on:
2 Corinthians 1:20, 22 “For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’ And through Christ, our ‘Amen’ (which means ‘Yes’) ascends to God for his glory… and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.”
Hebrews 6:16-18 “Now when people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding. God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.”
1 John 2:24-25 “So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.”

Bible Story: David & the Psalms (Psalm 136; Psalm 9:1-2
Main Point: I Will Thank God!
Bible Verse: “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made… “ Psalm 139:14 (NKJV)
Today your children joined a boy named Mardy on a training mission for the Help Corps. On the mission, Mardy went to Berry Blast Island to help a girl named Cherry learn: I Will Thank God. She had a lot to be thankful for, but since she wasn’t, her world was black and white even though the rest of the island was very colorful. Once she learned that she had a lot to thank God for, her world turned to color.
Activity one: Thankful Ride
One day this week when you’re driving with your children, challenge them to see how many things they can come up with to be thankful to God for. Some examples include: sunshine, flowers, food, your house, family, friends, a comfy bed, a favorite movie, etc. Remind them that God likes it when we thank Him for all the things that make us happy.
Activity two: Picture of Thanks
Sit down with your children and help them draw a picture of something they are thankful to God for. It can be a pet, a new pair of shoes, or whatever is on their heart. Help them put it somewhere special, and tell them that every time they look at it, they should say a prayer to thank God.

This Week in NewLife Kids
Ten Hut - Elementary
Lesson Goal: The children will learn that even though we may not get the answer we want, we can be sure that God hears our prayers.
Main Point: God Hears My Prayers!
Bible Story: God hears and answers Joshua's prayer
(Joshua 10:1-15)
Memory Verse: Psalm 116:1
"I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy."(NLT)
The Gibeonites had tricked the Israelite leaders into making an oath that the Israelites would not harm them. Because the Israelites kept their treaty, the Gibeonites became the woodcutters and water carriers for the entire nation. The king of Jerusalem heard that the nation of Israel became allies with the Gibeonites and then planned an alliance with four other Amorite kings to destroy Gibeon. So Joshua and his entire army set out for Gibeon to destroy the Amorites. The Lord aided the Israelites with their victory over the Amorites by throwing the enemy into panic, sending a horrible hailstorm, and even allowing the sun and moon to stand still until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies. (Read Joshua 9-10:15)
Application:
What did Joshua pray for? (Joshua 10:12)
Have you ever prayed for something that you felt like God would not answer?
Why is prayer important?
The Bible talks a lot about prayer. Prayer is so important because it is the basis of our relationship with God. Even Jesus prayed. Listening and talking to God is not only an act of obedience but also grows our relationship with Him. We can learn from Joshua that no prayer is too big for God. Take time to thank God for allowing us to have a relationship in which we can come to Him freely and know that He cares enough to listen to and answer our prayers.
Additional verses
John 15:7 “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”
Ephesians 6:18 “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”
James 5:16b “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”
Ten Hut JR - Pre-K and Toddlers
Main Point: I Will Share With Others!
Bible Story: David & Mephibosheth (2 Samuel 9:1-13)
Memory Verse: “And David became more and more powerful, because the LORD God of Heaven’s Armies was with him.”
2 Samuel 5:10
Sharing - one of the hardest lesson to teach and for your child to learn. We are made with automatic selfish tendencies so Sharing is a foreign concept. Read the bible stody with your child and talk about how David made a decision to share every thing he had with Mephibosheth. Take time this week to point out times when your child can share and be like David - who was a "man after God's own heart".
