This Week in NewLife Kids

Ten Hut - Elementary

Lesson Goal: The children will learn that it is important to remember the times God has helped us. This will give us courage as we face present and future challenges.
Main Point: I Will Remember That God Has Done Great Things For Me!
Bible Story: Joshua and the Israelites take time to remember and worship God (Joshua 4:15-24, 6:24, and 8:3-35)
Bible Verse: Psalm 77:11 "But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago." (NLT)

Read the Bible story: (Joshua 4:15-24, 6:24, and 8:3-35)
The Lord performed a lot of miracles for the Israelites. He stopped the Jordan River from flowing so that they could safely get across. He even helped them conquer cities and defeat their enemies.

For Discussion:
Why did Joshua place twelve stones to mark where the Israelites crossed the Jordan River?

After Ai was defeated and the king was killed, what did Joshua do?

What are some ways that you can remember the great things God has done in your life?

Joshua knew the importance of giving God the glory for every victory in his life. Joshua and the Isralites took time to remember the great things God did when He helped them cross the Jordan River, conquer the city of Jericho, and defeat Ai.

Just like the Isrealites, we should also remember the great things that God has done for us. Remembering will help us with what we're facing today and what we will face tomorrow. It helps us to focus on God and recognize his hand in our lives.

Extra verses to look up:
Proverbs 77:11
2 Samuel 7:22
Psalm 103:2

Ten Hut - Pre-K and Toddlers

Bible Story: David & the ark (Psalm 57:7-10; 2 Samuel 5:1-4; 7:8-9)
Main Point: I Will Be Happy Because God Loves ME!
Bible Verse: “God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says…” Corinthians 1:9 (NLT)

Read the bible story: (Psalm 57:7-10; 2 Samuel 5:1-4; 7:8-9)

Take some time to talk with your child about what make them happy. Help them to understand that we don't need things to make us happy. People can't make us happy either. Happiness comes form the Lord!! God loves us and that should make us happy.

See you next Sunday!!

This Week in NewLife Kids

Ten Hut – Elementary

Lesson Goal: The children will learn that we will run into obstacles as we follow God. However, we should remember that God is strong enough to help us get past those obstacles. Therefore, we should trust God and follow Him even when facing impossible obstacles.
Main Point: God Is Powerful Enough To Help Me Do What He Wants Me To Do!
Bible Story: The fall of Jericho (Joshua 6)
Bible Verse: Philippians 4:6 "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." (NLT)

The Israelites crossed the Jordan River and made a memorial out of twelve stones to represent each tribe of Israel. This memorial marked the spot where the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across. Once the Israelites crossed the Jordan River, they camped at Gilgal, which was just east of Jericho.(Read Joshua 4)

Application:
What were the commands the Lord gave to Joshua to defeat the city of Jericho? (Read Joshua 6:1-5)
Why do you think that God designed such a simple plan for the Israelites to defeat the city?
What is an example in your life when God has helped you accomplish what He has called you to do?
The nation of Israel experienced God’s strength and ability to overcome every obstacle they faced. They acted on faith by obeying His Word and trusted that His plan would work. After the walls of Jericho collapsed, the Israelites saw that it was the power of God and their obedience that destroyed the city, not their own strength and power.
We worship and serve the same God that helped the Israelites defeat the city of Jericho. When you are faced with an obstacle in your life, know that God is powerful enough to help you do what He wants you to do.

Additional verses to meditate on:
Philippians 4:13 “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

Ten Hut JR – Pre-K and Toddlers

Bible Story: David takes Saul’s gear (1 Samuel 26:1-25)
Main Point: I Will Be Kind When Others Are Mean!
Bible Verse: “God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says…” Corinthians 1:9 (NLT)

Application:
Read the Bible Story. David takes Saul’s gear (1 Samuel 26:1-25)

This Week in NewLife Kids

Ten Hut - Elementary

Lesson Goal: The children will learn that when God asks us to do something, we can be sure that He will provide a way for us to accomplish the task.
Main Point: God Will Make A Way For Me To Follow Him!
Bible Story: The Israelites cross the Jordan River (Joshua 3-4)
Memory Verse: Philippians 4:19 "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." (NLT)

About the Lesson:
After hiding in the hill country for three days, the two spies returned to the Israelite camp to report what had happened while scouting out Jericho. The men told Joshua, “The Lord has given us the whole land, for all the people in the land are terrified of us” (Joshua 2:24).

God used the pillar of cloud and fire to guide the Israelites out of the wilderness. Now, the Ark of the Covenant was the visible symbol that God used to lead His people into the Promised Land.

Application:
What did Joshua tell the Israelites to do before they got ready to cross the Jordan River? (Read Joshua 3:5)
What miracle did God perform when the Israelites crossed the Jordan River? (Read Joshua 3:15-17)
Has there been a time in your life when you were presented with the option to either follow God or your own desires? How did God provide a way for you to follow Him?
When God asks us to do something, we can know that He will provide a way for us to do it. We shouldn’t worry about how God will provide, we should simply follow God and trust Him.

Additional verses to meditate on:
Psalm 32:8 “The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

Ten Hut Jr - Toddler & Pre-K

Lesson Goal: The children will learn that God gives me friends.
Bible Story: David & Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:1-16; 19:1-7; 20:1-42)
Main Point: God Gives Me Friends!
Bible Verse: “God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says…” Corinthians 1:9 (NLT)

Parents:
Take time this week to read the bible story with your child. Learn together about David and Jonathan and the bond they had. Talk to your children about their friends and even tell them how God has placed some friends in your life.

See you next Sunday!!

This Week in NewLife Kids

Elementary
Ten Hut - Lessons from the life of Joshua

Lesson Goal: The children will learn that when we ask God for help, He will often send us help through other people. Also, God will help other people through us.

Bible Story: Rahab and the spies (Joshua 2)
Memory verse: Ecclesiastes 4:9 "Two people are better than one, for they can help each other succeed." (NLT)

Family Activity:
Here are some questions to ask your child/ren this week.
How did Rahab put action to her faith in God?
Who are some people God has placed in your life for help and guidance?
Do you ever feel like choices or mistakes you have made will keep you from being used by God? Why?

If God used Rahab then God can use you to help others, no matter what mistakes you have made.

Scriptures to look up.
John 13:14-15
Romans 15:2
Galations 6:1
Ecclesiastes 4:9

Pre-K & Todlers
Ten Hut Jr. - Lessons from the life of David

Lesson Goal: The children will learn to do what they say they will do.
Bible Story: David & Goliath (1Samuel 17:17-52)
Main Point: I Will do What I Say I Will Do!
Bible Verse: “God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says…” Corinthians 1:9 (NLT)

Family Activity:
Take time this week with you child/ren to ask about the bible story of David and Goliath. Ask them if they think this is a true story. Is what the bible says true? Read 1 Samuel chapter 17 with them to show them that this story came from the pages of God's word.

If there has ever been a time in your life that God has come through big for you (like he did for David) then discuss this with you child.

1 Samuel 17:47b: "...for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”
