This Week in NewLife Kids
Professor Playtime’s Christmas Shop of Wonders - Elementary and Pre-K
Main Point: Jesus Is The Greatest Gift!
Parents ask these questions to review today’s lesson:
Who was the main person in today’s Bible Story? (Jesus.)
What is the gift that Jesus gave us? (Forgiveness for our sins.)
What price did Jesus pay for our gift of forgiveness? (He died on the cross.)
Bible Verse: “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NLT
Read The Bible Story Together: (Luke chapters 2, 23, and 24.)
Parents ask your children to explain to you why Jesus was born and died on the cross.
Jesus Saves
Jesus didn’t just come to make people happy, or so that we could sing songs and give gifts. Jesus came to give us the gift of salvation. To do that, He had to die on the cross for our sins. This week, work with your children to think up different times they could be sharing with others the good news of Jesus Christ. Ask them if they have any friends who they want to know about Jesus’ gift of forgiveness. Make a calendar of the week and write one friend’s name on each day. Commit to praying as a family for that person to accept Jesus gift.
Christmas With The Veggie Tales – Toddlers
Main Point: God loves me
Memory Verse: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, He is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11
Bible Story: Jesus is born Matthew 1:18-2:12
This week we talked about the true meaning of Christmas. It’s not the toys, the tree, or all the other distractions of Christmas – but it is the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Happy Birthday, Jesus!!
Parent Devotional - Jesus Is The Greatest Gift!
Think about past Christmases. What was the best present you ever received? Was it the new video game that you wanted ever since you heard about it or the doll dream house with a working elevator? Maybe it was big, like a car or a new house, or maybe it was something small and sentimental? Any of these might be your greatest gift. They might have been personal. They might have been valuable. They might have been costly. But there is one thing they all have in common. They don’t last. Eventually the toy will break. The car will get old and break down. You’ll get a new game system with new games. And even that small, sentimental thing may get lost or damaged or put away in a box and forgotten.
But there is one gift that does not break. There is one gift that will not become old and outdated. It is eternal. It is the greatest gift of all time. It is the forgiveness and salvation of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ gift is personal. Jesus makes it possible for us to have a personal relationship with God. Jesus’ gift is valuable. Through Jesus, we experience freedom, love, and forgiveness. Jesus’ gift was costly. He paid for it by dying a painful death on the cross, taking the punishment that should have been ours. Sometimes we lose sight of how special and great Jesus’ gift truly is. Christmas is a great time to remind ourselves of that.
May every gift you give or receive this Christmas remind you of the greatest gift ever, Jesus. And whether you are thanking Aunt Mabel for a sweater you’ll never wear, or your children for a handmade card that will go on the refrigerator for decades, take a moment to thank Jesus for His gift of salvation that is given especially to you.
“Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5 NLT
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’” Matthew 11:28 NLT
“He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.” Ephesians 1:7 NLT
This week take time to reread The Salvation Story. (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John)
Merry Christmas!
See you on Saturday, December 31 at 6pm for our Winter "Funday Sunday"

Main Point: I Will Be Loyal To People Who Are Loyal To God!
Parents ask these questions to review today’s lesson:
Who was the main person in today’s Bible Story? (Joseph.)
What did the angel tell Joseph about Mary? (That Mary was following God’s plan and Joseph should not be afraid to marry her.)
Bible Verse: “A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.” Proverbs 17:17 NLT
Read The Bible Story Together: Joseph (Matthew 1:18-25)
Parents tell your children about a time when you had to make a decision to be loyal to someone in your life.
Loyalty
Joseph had a difficult decision to make. Did he stand by Mary and take her as his wife or walk away? Joseph was loyal to Mary despite his suspicions. He was also loyal to God by obeying Him and raising Jesus as his son. We need to be loyal to those people in our lives who are loyal to God as well. This week, make a chart with your children. Write down the family members, friends, and anyone else they feel loyal to. Next, write down why they feel loyal to each of those people. Put a star or a special marker by the people on the chart who are loyal to God. Discuss with your children the importance of being loyal to those who make right choices and are loyal to God.
Christmas With The Veggie Tales – Toddlers
Main Point: God wants me to be a giver
Memory Verse: “None of you should look out just for your own good….” Philippians 2:4a
Bible Story: Cheerful giver 2 Corinthians 9:7-9,11-15
This week we talked about being a giver and not just always expecting something in return. This lesson learned at an early age will allow your child/ren to thrive as they grow up. Instead of looking at things with jealousy because they want, they will learn to look for needs that they can play a part in filling. The difference of living a life of joy or a life filled with longing.
Parent Devotional - I Will Be Loyal To People Who Are Loyal To God!
Getting on a train means that you are committed to following the path the track travels. The train has to follow the tracks. There aren’t detours. You can’t pull off on the shoulder to get around an obstacle. You can’t decide to pull off the tracks to explore a path into the woods. You have to stay on the track. Being loyal to someone is like following those train tracks. But how do you know what tracks to follow? Who should you be loyal to?
Joseph had a choice to be loyal to Mary or to quietly bail out of an embarrassing situation. Joseph knew what God wanted him to do, and he knew that Mary was doing what God wanted. And knowing that, made his choice clear. Not an easy choice, but a clear one.
You would be foolish to get on a train without knowing the destination. You would be equally foolish to blindly give loyalty to just anyone. As representatives of Christ we should be people of loyalty and honor. But our first loyalty is to follow Christ. So we should be loyal to those who are loyal to God. Consider it checking the destination before you get on a train. Make a clear choice to stick with those who stick with God and you won’t find yourself on the wrong track.
“Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.” Proverbs 3:3 (NLT)
“Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can fi nd one who is truly reliable?” Proverbs 20:6 (NLT)
Parents read The Christmas story through the eyes of Joseph. (Matthew 1:18-25)

Main Point: I Can Have Courage Because God Has A Plan!
Parents ask these questions to review today’s lesson:
Who was the main person in today’s Bible Story? (Mary.)
What happened to her? (An angel told her that she would have a baby and name Him Jesus.)
Mary responded with courage. Why was she able to have courage? (Because she trusted God’s plan.)
Bible Verse: “This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 NLT
Read the Bible Story Together: Mary (Luke 1:26-38)
Parents ask your children to share one thing they might be scared to do.
Be Brave!
Mary was brave and accepted God’s plan for her. She didn’t completely understand God’s plan, but she courageously accepted it. Tell your children of a time in your life when you were scared to do something. Explain to them how you overcame that fear. Have your children make a list of fears. Discuss ways they can be brave when they face those things or any circumstance that might make them scared. Encourage your children to be brave and accept whatever God has planned for them.
Christmas With the Veggie Tales – Toddlers
Main Point: Christmas is about God showing us His love
Memory Verse: “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Bible Story: Jesus is born Luke 2:1-20
God loves us!! This week we celebrated the fact that God loves us. God loved us so much that he gave his one and only son for our sins. That is awesome and better than any gift that will be given this Christmas. Remind your children often of God’s love for us.
Parents Devotion - I Can Have Courage Because God Has A Plan!
The Christmas Story has a great, epic feeling about it. A heavenly messenger is sent to a land thought to be God-forsaken. A young girl is chosen from a waiting nation to be the mother of a child who would be the embodiment of joy and hope. A child is born who would change the world more than any king, scholar, army, or empire in history. We see it from our modern perspective as a whole and complete narrative. It is as beautiful as a well planned dance. Not so beautiful, however, to those who had it thrust into their lives. God’s intrusion into Mary and Joseph’s plans for their life was unheard of. Their lives must have seemed like chaos, not beautifully choreographed steps. But Mary and Joseph faithfully followed despite the danger and dread they may have felt. Reading an epic story seems exciting and fun. Living one seems chaotic and dangerous. When reading a story, we don’t often think about the fear that characters must feel. Mary didn’t see the whole of her story before she agreed to obey. She agreed on the first page, no matter what the last page held. What kind of story do you desire for your life? An epic adventure or a calm and safe story where nothing much happens?
When has God intruded in your life? It is easy to believe that God has a plan for us when all is going according to our plan. But when our plans get disrupted we need to remember that God’s plan is still in effect. No matter how frightening unplanned interruptions may be, no matter how chaotic life may seem, we can be confident in God’s love and care for us. We can trust His plan, even when life seems unplanned. Even if you can’t see all of it, trust God’s plan and have courage.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)
“O Lord, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them.” Isaiah 25:1 (NLT)
“This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.” 1 Corinthians 1:25 (NLT)

This Week in NewLife Kids
Starlight Staion - Elementary & Pre-K
Main Point: Servant Leaders Help Others In Need Without Being Asked
Bible Story: Jacob moves to Egypt Genesis 45:16-47:12
Memory Verse: “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.” Proverbs 3:27 NLT
The Children learned that they should look for ways to help others, before anyone asks them to. This week lead by example - take time to look around you, (instead of being so caught up in your own life and all you have to do) and find ways to help others. Use these moments to talk with your kids about what you do.
Adventures with Veggie Tales - Toddlers
Main Point: God wants me to always remember Him
Memory Verse: “Stand firm. Hold on to what we taught you.” 2 Thessalonians 2:15
Bible Story: Daniel’s Story - Daniel 6:1-28
This week we talked about living what we believe and not letting circumstance in the world sway us from standing firm in all God wants for us. Daniel was an awesome example of this and was elevated because he stood firm.
See you Sunday as we visit Professor Playtime's Christmas Shop of Wonders!!
***Parents next week look for a Parent devotion on our blog page. We wanted to bless you this month also.
