Leadership: I will use what I have learned to be a good example for others!
Activity
Choose one person in the family to be the Leader. Have the Leader say the Main Point out loud. The other family members should repeat it after the Leader in a call and response fashion until each family member can say the Main Point without help.
Bible Verse: “And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.” Titus 2:7 NLT
Read the Bible Story together: Paul gives advice to Timothy (Acts 16:1-5)
Ask your child to tell you of their favorite teacher either at school or church. What made them their favorite teacher?
Learning And Leading
We learned in the Bible Story that Paul was teaching Timothy so he could turn around and lead and teach others on his own. When you are a leader it is your responsibility and privilege to teach others what you know. This is especially true when it comes to telling others what you know about God. As a family, make a poster about God. You can draw pictures showing what you know or write words that explain what you know about God. Remind your child that as we learn new things about God, it is our responsibility to teach others what we know. Place the poster somewhere in your house and add to it each time you learn something new about God!

God Has Big Plans For Me!
Bible Verse: Jeremiah 29:11a (NLT) - “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord.”
Bible story: Gideon story (Judges 7)
Family Activity
Sunday, your child learned that God has big plans for them! He knows everything about them and thinks they are extremely special. There is no one else exactly like them! This week, sit down as a family and talk about the plans God has for your child right now. He wants them to pray, read the Bible, go to church, and obey their parents. Discuss the plans God has for your family right now. He wants you to pray together, show kindness to others, and respect each other. As a family, have each member draw a picture of themselves doing something that is part of God’s plan. Explain to your child that God has plans for them to do now and big plans for them in the future, too. Even though they don’t know what God’s plans are for them in the future, they can do God’s plan for them right now.

Family Activity
DOJO - Elementary
LESSON 7
Loyalty: I will be faithful to the people and things I have made commitments to!
Write the Main Point on sheets of paper, one for each member of the family. Have each member go into separate rooms for 1 minute and try to memorize the Main Point. After one minute, come back together and have each person say the Main Point out loud without their paper. If someone needs help remembering the Main Point, make sure to be there for them and help them out!
Loyalty is being faithful to what you’ve committed to whether it is a person or place. Tell your child about a friend that has always been dear to you. What made you like them so much? Did you ever have to show loyalty to them in a specific situation? Make a list with your child of the different things and people they say they are loyal to in their life. Post the list up where they can see it and remind themselves as other opportunities come up what they say they are loyal to right now. Encourage your child to show loyalty to the people and things they say are important to them.

Lesson 7: I Will Pray!
Sunday, your child learned about prayer. They learned it is important and fun to pray. This week, find time to pray together as a family. Discuss with your child different times we can pray as well as different places. Walk them through their day and point out how your child can pray no matter where they are. They can pray while eating lunch in the cafeteria or running on the playground. Pick out a time as a family to pray together each day. Try to make it a time when you wouldn’t normally be praying together. You can pray together in the car on your way to school or a sports game. The important thing is to point out that prayer is something you can do anytime and anywhere!
Also, take time to think about and talk about times that God answered your prayers. Get real with your child about things you have prayed for in your life. Hannah prayed for a child and even after a long time God answered her prayer and gave her a son. Stress the importance of talking to God through prayers.

Mark your way through Mark
Application Activity for Discipline
Purpose:
This activity gives the children an opportunity to practice the discipline of reading the Bible and praying regularly during the eight weeks of Dojo.
We began teaching the first four lessons of Dojo during the month of November and we are resuming the final four lessons of Dojo during the month of January. We started reading the book of Mark during November and will finish this book in the bible during January.
Discipline is something you build on a little bit every day. It may seem hard to read a whole book of the Bible, but through discipline, you can do it a little bit at a time. If you read just a little bit each day, you can read the whole book of Mark by the time we finish our Dojo Series. Hopefully by that time the discipline of reading the bible to learn more about God will become a habit for your family.
Start again January 9
January 9 – 14 read Chapter 9 & Chapter 10
January 15 - 21 read Chapter 11 & Chapter 12
January 22 - 28 read Chapter 13 & Chapter 14
January 29 - read Chapter 15 & Chapter 16
Parents, help your children start NOW to develope a habit of reading the bible daily.
See you at the Dojo this next Sunday!!!
